The Leicester Year 6 Forum : Our Shared Journey
In June 2025, Project FREE hosted a unique event for Year 6 pupils from Leicester to explore their thoughts and feelings about moving from Primary to Secondary school. The aim was to support Year 6 pupils with this significant milestone.
The event took place at King Power Stadium, thanks to Leicester City in The Community, and generous donations from everyone who contributed to our crowdfunding campaign. Special thanks to NEU Leicester and The Linking Network.
We were joined by pupils from Shaftesbury Juniors, Slater Primary, Queensmead Academy, Caldecote Primary and Taylor Road Primary schools.
We produced a Transition Toolkit , full of helpful activities to support your Year 6 pupils with this transition, that you can use in your classroom, as well as individual Pupil Workbooks and a certificate to award them all on completion.
The Transition Toolkit is available as a printed version and copies are available to schools on request.
