Windrush Educators Network

Welcome to this national Windrush Educators Network - a network for anyone interested in seeing Windrush history embedded into the curriculum in schools across the UK.

Our overall goal is to see Windrush history and legacy taught well in all UK schools and with this in mind we see this Windrush Educators Network as a space for anyone interested in exploring or sharing Windrush resources and learning.

The core organising team currently comprises of;

Sharon Morgan- DT Educator and Founder of BE Truth To Power 

Susann Savidge - Chair Somerset African Caribbean Network

Ivya Scott - Black History consultant, NEU & Black Suffolk 

Ruth Sinhal - Founding Director of Project FREE 

The network has 3 interconnected aims: to amplify, connect and educate.

Amplify — we want this network to be a vehicle for amplifying the work of anyone already active in Windrush-related education and advocacy work.

Connect — we want this network to be a useful space where people connect with each other, build relationships, support one another and potentially even collaborate on projects. 

Educate — We want this space to be open to people looking to develop their own Windrush learning, as well as those who have something to share to support others.

But, we also want this network to be a source of ongoing learning for all of us within it. Being part of this group should mean we're continually picking up new knowledge, insights, ideas, confidence and good practice — whether that's through the events themselves, resources shared by members, or simply being connected to others doing this work.
